The narrow, winding alleyways of the famous Lanes of Brighton are an intriguing part of the town. The Lanes are 18th and 19th century buildings, and are strewn with antique shops, delicious restaurants and delightful teashops.

Walking around Brighton allows you to enjoy the magnificent gardens, architecture and fountains, as well as the intriguing surprises to be found in the Lanes. Much by way of elegant Georgian and Regency architecture is the pride of Brighton with cream and white terraces that meander into magnificent squares, whilst a moated castle is a fine example of ancient English heritage with ornate gardens and natural woodland.

For many years the surrounding area of the south downs was grazed by sheep or utilised for arable farming.   More recently vineyards have appeared but without detracting from the natural beauty of this area.

Brighton's many attractions may searched for within the map below.
